A new year mean resolutions for many. For a new mom it means learning a whole new way of life! As the holiday craziness subsides and we embark on a new year, there are a few things that new parents can keep in mind in order to make their transition into “new mom” the start of their best year yet. Check out these tips for new moms to hit your stride at the start of 2017.

A support system is key

Every new mom has a million questions. It’s OK to ask for help when it’s needed. Although you may be tempted to do everything on your own, there is no such thing as super mom. Whether it be picking up the phone to confide in another “mommy” friend or having a loved one visit to help you with your new duties, even the slightest bit of help can feel like a huge relief. Having support is what keeps us moms sane! One wonderful thing about the internet is its ability to connect you with a world of moms just waiting to provide you with advice and tips to navigate these new waters. Before you know it, you’ve established a network of hundreds of moms who can provide support when you need it most!

Take advantage of resources to make your life easier

As a new mom, there may be certain resources at your disposal that you never know existed, but will make your life so much simpler. For example, the dedicated rooms that have been created in some public places to make mothers more comfortable when they breastfeed can be helpful while you’re out and about. Another example are retail locations that offer carts with the latest attachments to make shopping a safe and enjoyable experience for both mom and baby. You can find some of these special carts here. Doing some research before you head out can lead you to experiences and places that are much more convenient for new moms.

Don’t neglect YOU

When you have a new baby, it’s only natural that all of your attention is directed toward keeping your little one safe, happy and healthy. However, it’s important to remember that keeping mommy in a great state of mind is just as important. You should make time to do the things that help you feel like you! An example of this could be continuing to enjoy your cup of tea before bed at night or finding 15 minutes to read a chapter of your favorite book. Your mind and body will thank you.

Being a new mom is one of the most exciting – as well as the most challenging – times in your life. Take this time to embrace all of the new experiences and cherish all of the moments you spend with your newborn!
